Fair Lending Policy

The Connecticut Fair Housing Center works to ensure that Connecticut’s lending laws protect consumers.  The Center is particularly concerned about the effect the foreclosure crisis is having on communities of colors.  View this map of foreclosures to see an illustration of the areas of high foreclosure concentration in Connecticut.

During the 2007-2008 legislative session, we advocated for the passage of Public Act 08-176, An Act Concerning Responsible Lending and Economic Security.  This law put common sense restrictions on the kinds of loans in large part responsible for the foreclosure crisis and established a range of programs to assist homeowners in danger of foreclosure.
