Urgent Action Needed for #RentReliefNow and to #StopEvictions!

On Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. EST we are making a legislative CALL TO ACTION, calling on Governor Lamont and CT legislators to stop evictions and distribute rental relief in Connecticut. Your support is integral to the success of this call to action!

Renters across America have been hard hit by COVID-19 and its financial fallout and they are struggling to make ends meet. Federal, state, and local efforts to keep impacted people stably housed are overwhelmed by the tremendous needs in our communities; available resources are quickly depleted. While the state and federal eviction moratoriums give essential short-term relief to some renters, there is much more that needs to be done.

What can you do?

Call on your legislators to:

  • Extend the eviction moratorium and reinstate the stay on all executions until the end of the pandemic.
  • Remove all exceptions to the eviction moratorium except for serious nuisance evictions.
  • Immediately set up a program to distribute the approximately $237,328,000 in federal emergency rental assistance program that is accessible and easy for tenants and landlords to quickly navigate.
  • Immediately allocate the eligible 10% of federal emergency rental assistance to legal representation for tenants in eviction cases.
